2017 Ford EcoSport facelift - Interiors captured on camera

Ford has been testing the 2017 EcoSport facelift on public roads in India. Multiple spy shots of camouflaged test mules of the car have surfaced on the internet. Now, the interiors of the upcoming compact SUV have also been caught on camera, giving an idea about the dashboard layout and major changes made to the car.

Ford has already unveiled the EcoSport facelift for international markets. Going by the recent set of spy shots, the India-spec model will borrow its dashboard layout from the US-spec model that was revealed last year. This means that the 2017 EcoSport will get significant interior updates over the current model.

The EcoSport gets a redesigned dashboard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford's SYNC3 connectivity. This infotainment display has been given a floating screen layout and is placed on top of the centre console. It is expected to come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other changes will likely include a new three-spoke steering wheel and a new instrument cluster.

Interestingly, a 6-speed manual gearbox lever can also be seen in the spy shots, pointing towards the possibility of a new manual gearbox with the EcoSport facelift. The current model comes with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic, with the latter being available only with the 1.5L petrol engine.

Ford isn't expected to make any engine-related changes to the 2017 EcoSport. It is likely to continue to be offered with three engine options - a 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol, a 1.0L EcoBoost petrol and a 1.5L TDCi diesel. Ford is expected to launch the car in India around the festive season this year.
