2016 Jaguar XF sedan launched in India at Rs. 49.50 lakh

The 2016 Jaguar XF sedan has been launched in India, at prices starting from Rs. 49.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new XF can now be booked at any of the 23 Jaguar dealerships across India, while deliveries are expected to commence from the end of this month. It is available in three trims - Pure, Prestige, and Portfolio.

The new XF is the first Jaguar car in India to feature the company's latest Ingenium diesel engine. This 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged power plant is capable of putting out 177 BHP and 430 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. Jaguar claims that the XF Diesel can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 229 km/h.

The XF is also available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that develops 237 BHP and 340 Nm of torque. This engine can only be opted for in the Prestige and Portfolio trims. It features a similar 8-speed automatic transmission and RWD setup, as the diesel version. The company claimed 0-100 sprint time of the XF petrol is 7 seconds, with its top speed rated at 248 km/h.

Jaguar has also equipped the 2016 XF sedan with the Jaguar Drive Control system. This allows the driver to alter the response characteristics of the steering, throttle inputs, and gearbox. The XF gets four driving modes - Standard, Eco, Dynamic, and Rain/Ice/Snow.

Features that are standard on the base Pure trim of the XF include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 17-inch alloy wheels, bi-functional Xenon headlamps and electronically-adjustable front seats. The Prestige variant further adds perforated leather seats, and a memory function for the steering and driver seat. The top-spec Portfolio trim gets 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Jaguar's InControl Touch Pro interface, full LED headlights, and 14-way electrically adjustable front seats.

The Jaguar XF competes against the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Volvo S90.
