2016 Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in Pune

A couple of mildly camouflaged test mules of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson have been spotted testing in Pune. The new-gen Hyundai Tucson is rumoured to go on sale in India next month, i.e., October 2016. This SUV will fill the gap between the Creta and the Santa Fe.

Though there has been no official word from the manufacturer regarding the specifications on offer with the Tucson in India, it is likely that the third-gen Tucson will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is expected to be borrowed from the recently launched Elantra sedan. This engine is a 2.0-litre MPI unit that produces 150 BHP and 195 Nm of torque. The diesel variants will probably get a 2.0-litre CRDi unit, which will be offered in two states of tune - 134 BHP and 181 BHP. Both petrol and diesel engines are expected to get a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic as transmission options. An AWD (all-wheel drive) system might also be offered as an option on the top-end variant.

The 2016 Tucson will be brought into India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units. Features offered on the top-end variant are likely to include 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver’s seat with ventilation, HID headlights, LED taillights, and a sunroof. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that also supports a reverse camera, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is likely to be provided. Safety features on the top-end variant will probably include six airbags, ABS, EBD, and vehicle stability management system.
