Rumour: 2016 Hyundai Tucson to launch in October this year

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is reportedly being planned to launch in India in October this year. The third-gen model was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Tucson will be placed between the Creta and the Santa Fe.

Media reports also claim that the Tucson will be brought into India as a CKD (Completely Knocked down Unit), with 50% localization. The company has also announced that it will be launching two new models every year in the Indian market to enhance its presence.

The third-gen Tucson will likely be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol engine will be borrowed from the Elantra, which is a 2.0-litre MPI unit that produces 150 BHP and 195 Nm of torque. The Tucson diesel will likely get a 2.0-litre CRDi unit available in two states of tune: 134 BHP and 181 BHP. A six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic will be offered as the transmission options on both petrol and diesel variants. The 2016 Tucson might also get an AWD system as an option on the top-end trim.
