The government has revealed that 16.15 lakh electric vehicles received incentives under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India (FAME)-II scheme.
According to the data shared by the government, 14.27 lakh electric 2-wheelers were incentivised under the FAME-II scheme, in addition to 1.59 lakh electric 3-wheelers, 22,548 electric 4-wheelers, and 5,131 e-buses.
The government also provided subsidies for installing public charging stations under FAME-II. 10,985 EV chargers have been sanctioned, while 8,812 have been allocated for installation.
25,202 public charging stations have been installed in the country to date, with Karnataka having the highest number of EV chargers at 5,765. Maharashtra has 3,728 chargers, while Uttar Pradesh has 1,989.
As of October 31, 2024, the government has spent Rs 8,844 crore, which includes subsidies worth Rs 6,577 crore. Rs 2,244 crore were spent on capital assets, and Rs 23 crore were marked under other expenses.
