2020 Auto Expo: Mahindra Funster EV concept unveiled

Mahindra has unveiled an all-electric convertible SUV concept called the Funster.

The Funster EV has a wraparound windshield and butterfly doors. It has slim headlamps with V-shaped LED daytime running lights and a blanked-out grille. The car's front bumper houses a pair of three LED strips on both sides. At the rear, the tail light and spoiler are integrated into a single unit. The open-top SUV has dual-tone bumpers with Funster lettering. On the inside, the Funster EV has a large screen and a U-shaped steering wheel.

The Mahindra Funster is powered by two electric motors (one on each axle) and a 59.2 kWh battery pack. The claimed power output of the car is 309 BHP, while its claimed range is 520 km on a single charge. According to Mahindra, the Funster can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 5 seconds and hit a top speed of 200 km/h.

2020 Auto Expo: Kia Sonet sub-4 meter SUV concept unveiled

Kia has unveiled the Sonet sub-4 meter SUV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Sonet is based on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue. It has a tiger nose grille with red accents at the front and wraparound headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The front bumper has silver inserts and red highlights. The car has blacked-out A and B-pillars and a black roof with silver roof rails. It gets silver trim along the window line and dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the Sonet has wraparound tail lights and an LED light bar that stretches across the width of the car. The dual-tone rear bumper also has silver inserts with red highlights.

The production-spec Kia Sonet is expected to be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Customers could get a choice of a manual or automated manual transmission (AMT).

Tata Motors has unveiled a new concept SUV called the Sierra at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Sierra Concept is inspired by the original Tata Sierra from the 1990s. The design is based on Tata's Impact 2.0 philosophy and features a slim grille with LED daytime running lights and headlights positioned on the front bumper. The dual-tone front bumper has the Sierra lettering and a silver skid plate.

The SUV has blacked out A-pillars, a large rear window similar to the original Sierra and flush-fitting door handles. The square-ish wheel arches house dual-tone alloy wheels.

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the Futuro-e concept at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Futuro-e is a mid-size SUV concept with a coupe-like roofline. It has slim LED lights at the front with the Suzuki logo in the centre. At the rear, it has V-shaped tail lights that follow the contours of the wheel arches. The tail lights are connected with a light bar. The car has a black roof and flared wheel arches. There's gloss black cladding on the door sills, bumpers and wheel arches.

The Futuro-e has a futuristic looking interior in a blue and white theme and touchscreens . It has a rectangular steering wheel with a head-up display.

The Futuro-e is an all-electric SUV concept. However, Maruti has not disclosed the details of its powertrain.

Skoda has released a teaser video of the Vision IN mid-size SUV. The concept SUV is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Vision IN Concept is will spawn a new mid-size SUV. It measures 4.26 meters in length and is expected to be based on the MQB A0 IN platform.

The Vision IN features an upright Skoda grille that has vertical slats. It has slim twin-pod headlights and fog lamps placed just below the main headlamp clusters. The dual-tone front bumper has large vents and an integrated skid plate.

Maruti Futuro-e teased ahead of Auto Expo debut

Sony unveils Vision-S electric concept car

Sony has unveiled an electric concept car called the Vision-S.

The Vision-S measures 4,895 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm and weighs 2,350 kg.

The car gets a light bar connecting the headlights with an illuminated logo and a front bumper with air vents on both sides and an air dam with a honeycomb mesh grille. It comes with a black roof and blackened A, B, and C-pillars. At the rear, it gets slim tail lights with a light bar connecting them and a dual tone rear bumper with air vents on both sides. The car also gets a panoramic glass roof, cameras in place of ORVMs and red brake calipers and rides on 21-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the 4-seater Vision-S comes with a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, screens replacing the ORVMs, panoramic screen running the length of the dashboard and a screen on the centre console. The rear seats get individual entertainment screens which are placed behind the front seats. All four seats come with individual seat speakers.

The car is equipped with 360 Reality Audio which plays music from 360-degrees around the listener, 5G and Artificial Intelligence. The concept also gets 33 sensors for Level 2+ driver assistance systems and automated parking. There are also sensors to monitor the condition of drivers.

Powering the Vision-S concept are two electric motors - one on each axle. Each motor produces 268 BHP and Sony claims that the 0-100 km/h time is 4.8 seconds. The top speed of the car is claimed to be 240 km/h.

Sony has not announced any plans to put the Vision-S into production.
