Rumour: Kia QYI sub-4 meter SUV to be called Sonet

According to a media report, the Venue-based Kia QYI sub-4 meter SUV could be called Sonet in India. The carmaker is said to have filed trademarks for the name 'Kia Sonet' in multiple countries.

The QYI is expected to feature wraparound headlights and fog lamps positioned on the front bumper. It is likely to get roof rails and a shark fin antenna.

The QYI is expected to be offered with the same engine options as the Hyundai Venue. It could get the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and more than one automatic transmission option.

Kia's Venue-based sub-4 meter SUV has been spotted testing in Delhi.

The new model, codenamed QYI appears to have wraparound headlights. The front bumper appears to house a pair of fog lamps. The SUV has roof rails, a shark fin antenna and is riding on steel wheels.

Kia's compact SUV is expected to be offered with the same engine options as the Hyundai Venue. It could get the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and more than one automatic transmission option.

Kia sub-4 meter SUV to be launched in H2-2020

According to a statement released by Kia, the carmaker will launch a sub-4 meter SUV in the second half of 2020.

The new model (codenamed: QYI) is expected to be based on the Hyundai Venue and is likely to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.

The Kia QYI could also get the same powertrain options as the Venue, including the 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. It could also get 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Reports suggest that the car could be offered with multiple automatic transmission options.

Rumour: Volkswagen to launch Vitara Brezza rival in India

According to a media report, Volkswagen is planning to launch four new SUVs in India by 2021.

It has been reported that VW's smallest SUV (codenamed: A0) is likely to be launched in 2021. It could compete with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Volkswagen is said to be planning to showcase three new SUVs at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. The first ones among these are expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2020.

The report also states that VW will be offering BS6 compliant powertrains on its cars post December 2019. However, when the new emission norms come into effect from April 2020, VW may no longer offer diesel variants of its cars.

Rumour: Maruti & Toyota developing Raize-based SUV for India

Toyota has just unveiled the Raize sub-4 meter SUV in Japan. Now, media reports suggest that Maruti and Toyota could develop separate SUVs for India based on the DNGA platform.

The Toyota Raize measures 3,995 mm in length. However, the report states that SUVs for India could be slightly longer. While Maruti and Toyota would share the same platform, both SUVs are likely to have different exteriors, but certain interior components could be shared between the two.

The Raize-based SUV could be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech and it could be mated with either a manual or automatic gearbox. However, there has been no official word regarding this yet.

The new SUVs from Maruti and Toyota are expected to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and the likes.

Toyota Raize compact SUV brochure leaked

Earlier this month, the first images of the Toyota Raize compact SUV had surfaced online. Now, the official brochure of the car has leaked.

The Toyota Raize is based on the Daihatsu Rocky, which was unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. It has a trapezoidal front grille and wraparound LED headlamps. The front bumper houses a pair of circular fog lamps and what appear to be slim LED daytime running lights. The car has a black roof and ORVMs as well as blacked-out A and B-pillars. At the rear, it gets wraparound tail lights and a dual-tone bumper. The SUV rides on 5-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels.

The Raize is based on Toyota's modular DNGA platform. In the Japanese market, the Raize is expected to get a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 97 BHP and 104 Nm of torque. Initially, it could be offered with a CVT, while a 6-speed manual version might arrive later.

The Toyota Raize sub-4 meter SUV is expected to be offered in various Asian markets. In India, it could compete with the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue. However, there is no word yet from Toyota on whether it will be offered in India.

Venue-based Kia compact SUV spied

Last week there were reports suggesting that Kia was planning a Venue-based compact SUV. Now, a test mule of the said car has reportedly been spotted.

The camouflaged test mule appears to have a somewhat similar shape to the Venue. It has LED tail lamps, blacked-out B-pillars, roof rails and a short rear overhang.

Codenamed the QYI, Kia's compact SUV is expected to be offered with the same engine options as the Hyundai Venue. It could get the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and more than one automatic transmission option.

The Kia QYI is expected to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.

Rumour: Kia to launch Venue / Brezza rival in 2020

According to a media report, apart from the Carnival MPV, Kia is planning to launch a compact SUV in 2020.

The new model (Codenamed: QYI) is expected to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 in the compact SUV segment. The car could be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, while its formal launch is expected in July next year.

The QYI is expected to share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue and could also be offered with the same set of engines. The report suggests that the QYI will get the Venue's 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and could get more than one automatic transmission option.

It has also been reported that the QYI could get dual-tone colour options and features such as a touchscreen infotainment head-unit with UVO Connect.

Rumour: Renault HBC compact SUV to launch in 2021

According to a media report, Renault could launch a new compact SUV (codenamed: HBC) in 2021.

Reports suggest that the HBC is likely to be based on the CMF-A+ platform. However, unlike the Triber, which uses the same platform, the HBC is expected to be a 5-seater. 

The Renault HBC could be powered by a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine with a choice of a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. It has been reported that the HBC may not get a diesel engine option. 

In addition to other sub-4 meter SUVs, the Renault HBC is expected to compete with the Maruti Vitara Brezza along with Toyota's version of the same and Kia's upcoming compact SUV. Datsun is also likely to offer a similar product based on the same platform as the HBC.

Kia Seltos (SP2i) SUV leaked

The first undisguised images of Kia's SP Concept-based SUV (codename: SP2i) have leaked online. The SUV is likely to be called Seltos.

The Kia Seltos has a tiger nose grille with a chrome frame and is flanked by LED headlights that appear to have LED daytime running lights. It has a clamshell bonnet and a dual-tone front bumper with a skid plate, a pair of LED fog lights and front parking sensors. The SUV has blacked-out B and C-pillars, black roof with roof rails and flared wheel arches. 

At the rear, the car gets a roof spoiler, a shark fin antenna, wraparound LED tail lights, silver garnish on the tailgate and a dual-tone bumper with reflectors, chrome inserts and a silver skid plate. The Seltos has black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and along the door sills. The door sills also get a piano black finish on top of the plastic cladding. The SUV rides on 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels which have a Kia logo with a red surround. The version seen here has all-wheel drive.

In India, the Kia SP2i mid-size SUV could be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines paired with either a manual or an automatic transmission. Kia could also offer a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
