An interior picture of the Hyundai Elite i20

The interior picture of the next generation i20 or the Elite i20 as Hyundai calls it, has surfaced on the internet.  The Elite i20 has a new beige and black interior theme, with silver accents to give it a premium look. Hyundai have given the top half of the dashboard a beige colour and that might cause serious reflections on the windscreen while driving.

This picture seems to be from the i20 Asta trim, which is stuffed to the brim with features such as steering mounted controls, auto-folding ORVMs, key-less entry and a start stop button, climate control air-conditioner, an integrated double-din music system with Bluetooth connectivity. Among other things, the car also comes with two 12v sockets located on either side of the USB and AUX-in slots.

The Multi Information Display too seems to be new with better graphics and so does the display for the climate control. Interior quality and fit and finish is expected to be top notch, if the quality of the Grand i10 and Xcent interiors are anything to go by.

The new interiors seem to be leaps ahead of the dated interiors of the now discontinued i20. We will have to wait till the 11th for official launch of the Elite i20 for more details on the price and exact specifications.

Hyundai reveals design renderings of Elite i20

South Korean auto major, Hyundai has revealed design renderings of its upcoming hatchback, the Elite i20.

The car was designed at Hyundai Motor's Design Centre Europe in Russelsheim, Germany. It features the brand's "Fluidic Sculpture 2.0" design philosophy and looks a lot more European and sporty compared to the outgoing model.

At the front, the Elite i20 features a hexagonal grille with a new thin horizontal strip connecting the headlamps. At the rear, there is a wrap-around rear window and elongated tail lamps. The car has a sloping roofline and its C-pillar has been given "dark treatment". The rear bumper has been redesigned with integrated reflectors housed lower in them than the current i20.

In India, it is likely that Hyundai will use the same 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines from the current i20 to power the new model. Pre-bookings for the car will commence from today, August 1, 2014. The car will be launched on August, 11.

SCOOP: Next-gen Hyundai i20 spied undisguised

Thanks to BHPian deetjohn for sharing this with us.

The upcoming Hyundai i20 hatchback has been spied completely undisguised.

Hyundai has been testing the next-generation i20 extensively in India. The car has been spotted on our roads on numerous occasions, and each time the car was heavily camouflaged. This time though, we have pictures of the car with no disguise whatsoever.

From the pictures, the new i20's design appears very European. The front end is inspired by Peugeot's designs.  There is a redesigned honeycomb grille placed lower with a thin horizontal slit above it out of which the bonnet lines and headlamps seem to rise out. The headlights have metal inserts and the number plate housing is located on the grille.

At the rear there is a restyled tailgate and elongated wrap-around tail lamps. The car's bumper has been redesigned as well with integrated reflectors, located lower down than the current model.

The i20 has a sporty look with a sloping roofline and blackened C-pillar.  While not much is known about the powerplants that will power the car, it is likely that Hyundai will carry over the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines from the current i20.

The next-generation i20 is expected to be launched in India later this year.

Interiors of Next-gen Hyundai i20 spied

The next-gen i20 is rumoured to be making its world debut at the Paris Motor Shown in October. The car is being tested extensively in India, with spottings being reported frequently. However, in each case, the car has been heavily camouflaged. Hyundai has taken utmost care to cover every part of the car thoroughly.

However, elsewhere in the world, Carscoops has obtained pictures of the 2015 Hyundai i20 with lesser camouflage than before. The interiors of the car have been snapped as well. While these pictures have been taken in another country, they still give us a good idea of what to expect in the new i20.

The pictures reveal a restyled tailgate and set of new rear lights. The rear bumper of the car, the front end and the doors remain under wraps.

The pictures of the interiors of the car show a redesigned and more conventional, black dashboard. There is a new steering wheel, AC vents, centre console with fittings and instrument cluster. The car seems to have lost its centre-mounted MID as well.

More information on the 2015 i20 is awaited.
