Zephyria, our 2024 Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI AT is here: Delivery experience

Can’t wait to spend the next week or so breaking her in and adapting to her during the long drives we’ve planned before the daily duty driver takes over - sad moment for me indeed.

Welcome Zephyria, our 2024 1.0 Ambition MT (6AB) in Carbon Steel, to the forum!

Had a harrowing delivery and first drive experience, thanks to the lousy showroom delivery process (they didn’t even give us all the promised accessories at the time of delivery - not even the ones which they did NOT mention were missing), but that notwithstanding, I fell in love with the way she drove right from the get go, even though the visibility was terrible when there was non-stop condensation covering the entire car from outside, especially on the front windshield - this didn’t go no matter what I tried until the very end when I raised the AC temperature beyond the ambient temperature (sweat like crazy in the humid Kolkata heat!).

With 22 clicks on the odo, I drove her gingerly to the nearest HP, filled up on a full tank (~47l) of Power95, drove to our temple of choice, got a rather elaborate pooja done, returned home, all within 8 kilometres, and parked her carefully into the tight garage space. I was careful not to lug the engine all the while. A process that - apart from one or two instances in peak traffic - was a breeze to maintain. I didn’t get a chance to accelerate beyond 2,000 RPM or 60 KMPH, so the actual turbo kick remains to be seen. I plan on driving her with a slightly heavy right foot for the break in period, while adhering to what’s mentioned in the owner’s manual (which, thankfully, is an actual physical book!).

Have to get her pressure washed tomorrow after checking the air pressure which seems to be set too high. The suspension kind of crashes over undulations right now. I also love the sporty murmur at start-up as well as low RPMs. Sounds like our erstwhile Ford ikon 1.3 ROCAM Flair. I’m having a childlike glee as I’m typing this down at 4:20 AM!
