WagonR + Stingray now with AMT. Optional safety kit too

Maruti has now equipped its popular tallboy hatchbacks - WagonR and Stingray, with an automated manual transmission (AMT) as an option.

This is the company's third offering (after the Celerio and Alto K10) equipped with the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology that offers the convenience of an automatic gearbox yet the fuel efficiency of a manual. The ARAI fuel efficiency figure for the WagonR AMT is rated at 20.51 km/l, which is exactly the same as the 5-speed manual. To know more about the AMT click here.

This AMT option will be available on both - the WagonR and the Stingray, in the VXi trim. Both these cars are powered by the same 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder K-series petrol engine producing 67 BHP & 77 Nm, which does duty on the Alto K10 and the Celerio.

Another step in the right direction by Maruti, is that now both ABS and dual airbags will be available on all variants of the Wagon R / Stingray as an option.
