Mercedes-Benz unveiled the HWA EVO last year, based on the 190E - built by one of the founders of AMG. Now, a year since its unveiling, the very first car, with chassis number 000 will be going up for public auction.
The auction is said to take place on July 27 at RM Sotheby's Tegernsee Auction, held in association with the Concours of Elegance, Germany. The Chassis 000 will start at a base price of 718,000 euros (plus VAT), but expectations are it will be sold for nothing less than a million.
The Chassis 000 of the Mercedes 190E Restomod will be the first of 100 units built, all of which are already allocated to customers. The 000 numbered chassis will also serve as the official blueprint for the remaining cars, with each step of the build process being meticulously documented. The person buying the 190E chassis 000 will receive signed copies of the documents, with the official papers being retained by HWA.
The restomod is inspired by the 190E 2.5-16 Evo II. Each of the models will go through an extensive restoration process. This includes a major bodywork update using carbon fibre - designed by Khyzyl Saleem. HWA will then install a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6, producing 444 BHP (option of boosting it to 493 BHP) and 550 Nm. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
