Triumph Thunderbird LT launched at Rs. 15.75 lakh

British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph has expanded its product portfolio in India with the launch of the Thunderbird LT motorcycle. Priced at Rs. 15.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Thunderbird LT (Light Tourer) fits in the company's Cruiser category of bikes.

Available in two dual tone colour schemes - Caspian blue-crystal white and lava red-phantom black, the Thunderbird LT features lots of chrome, a low seat with lumbar support, a pair of removable leather saddle bags, auxiliary spot lamps, detachable windscreen and 16-inch wire-spoke rims shod with wide white-walled radial tyres. Instrumentation consists of an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge, LCD trip computer, range to empty and clock.

The Thunderbird LT is powered by what Triumph claims to be the largest parallel twin engine to be used in a motorcycle - a 1699 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin unit that develops peak power of 93 bhp @ 5400 rpm and peak torque of 151 Nm @ 3550 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox.

The bike uses a tubular steel, twin spine frame with a fork suspension at the front and twin shocks at the rear. Two 310 mm discs at the front and one at the rear aided by ABS provide stopping power for the Thunderbird LT. The bike has a dry weight of 349 kg and has a 22-litre fuel tank. Like other Triumph bikes, the Thunderbird LT comes with a two year unlimited mileage warranty.

The Thunderbird LT is Triumph's twelfth offering in India.
