Triumph Street Triple R launched at Rs. 8.84 lakh

Triumph has introduced a mid-spec variant of the Street Triple called the Street Triple R. It is positioned below the Street Triple RS and is priced at Rs. 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Street Triple R features twin LED headlights, new bodywork and a fly screen. It also gets redesigned air intake and side panels along with a new tail section. The bike gets redesigned mirrors and a new silencer that's compact. It is available in two colour options - Sapphire Black and Matt Silver Ice. The rear sub-frame is painted in red.

The Street Triple R is powered by a 765cc, 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 116 BHP @ 12,000 rpm and 79 Nm @ 9,350 rpm. The bike has ride-by-wire and three riding modes - Road, Rain and Sport. In Rain mode, peak power is restricted to 99 BHP.

Rotational inertia has been reduced by 7%, which is claimed to improve engine response and low and mid-range torque. The airbox and exhaust system have also been tweaked.

The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission via a slip-assisted clutch. It has shorter first and second gear ratios that are designed for better acceleration.

The bike rides on 41 mm Showa adjustable upside down fork suspension and gets a Showa monoshock at the rear. It has twin 310 mm disc brakes with Brembo 4-piston calipers at the front and a 220 mm disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear. It comes with dual-channel ABS and traction control. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels that are shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.
