Toyota has announced that bookings for the Yaris are now open, while the official launch is scheduled for May 2018. The car is offered in 4 variants - J, G, V and VX with introductory prices starting at Rs. 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The booking amount is set at Rs. 50,000.
The Toyota Yaris comes with a dual-tone front bumper with a large V-shaped grille flanked by circular fog lamps. The sweptback headlamps feature projector lights. LED DRL strips are placed below the main headlights. The car has a coupe-like roofline and blacked-out B-pillars. The rear features wraparound LED tail lamps and bumper with integrated reflectors. On the inside, the Yaris features a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a 3-pod instrument cluster. It has a dual-tone dashboard and a raked centre console with silver trim. It houses a 7-inch infotainment system.
Features like projector headlamps, electric ORVMs with integrated turn signals, power windows, air-conditioning, height adjustable driver seat, tilt steering and 60:40 split folding rear seat are standard on all variants. Besides this, safety features like ABS with EBD and brake assist, 7 airbags, keyless entry and central locking are also standard. The higher variants of Yaris also get disc brakes at all four corners.
The Yaris comes with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, which makes 106 BHP and 140 Nm of peak torque. While, there is only one engine to choose from, Toyota does offer the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed CVT.
