Toyota launches Etios and Liva Xclusive models in India

Toyota has web launched special edition versions of the Etios sedan and the Liva hatchback. 1000 units each, of the Etios Xclusive and the Liva Xclusive will be built, giving car buyers a dash of exclusivity in this era of mass production and homogenization. The Xclusive edition models of the Etios and the Liva are available in three colours: Gray, Silver and White. The new feature pack is available on the G variants of the cars. Pricing of the Xclusive Edition models is yet to be announced.

These are the new features on the Xclusive Edition models,

  • Two tone beige and gray interiors
  • Chrome accented gear knob
  • Bluetooth audio with remote
  • New seat fabric
  • Reverse parking sensors
  • Xclusive Edition Badges

Both cars' "Xclusive Editions" are available with petrol and turbo diesel engine options. While the Etios comes with the 1.5 liter petrol unit (90 PS-132 Nm) and the 1.4 liter D-4D turbo diesel unit (68 PS-170 Nm), the Liva features a 1.2 liter petrol unit (80 PS-104 Nm) and the 1.4 liter D-4D turbo diesel unit (68 PS-170 Nm). Both cars gets a five speed manual gearbox as standard while the Liva can also be specified with the TRD Sportivo kit, which also adds the revvy 1.5 liter petrol engine to the car.

Car makers in India are resorting to heavy discounting through attractive schemes and special edition/limited edition models, to push sales in a market that clearly has seen better days. Both the Etios and Liva, while being decent sellers, haven't performed up to the lofty expectations of Brand Toyota, especially considering their positioning as budget offerings. Therefore, the Xclusive Edition models seem like yet another exercise by Toyota Kirloskar Motor to spur sales of the sedan and hatchback duo.
