Tiguan was the highest-selling VW model in 2019

The Volkswagen Tiguan was the company's best selling vehicle in 2019. The carmaker produced 910,926 copies of the SUV last year. The production of the Tiguan also surpassed the 6 million unit mark.

The Volkswagen Tiguan debuted in 2007. The second-generation arrived in 2016 and in 2017, a long wheelbase version with 7 seats was introduced. It is sold under the XL or the Allspace brand. In 2019, VW introduced a plug-in hybrid version of the Tiguan. According to the company, the 7-seat version accounts for over 55% of all the Tiguans sold.

The Tiguan is made in Volkswagen’s factories in Germany, Russia, China and Mexico. The total capacity of these plants is claimed to be 2,495 units per day for the Tiguan - ensuring that one Tiguan rolls off the assembly line every 35 seconds. The Tiguan is claimed to be sold in 80% of the world's countries.

A new generation of the Tiguan is expected sometime in 2020 with visual and technical updates.
