Third-gen Maruti Swift details out. Bookings open

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to debut the new Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo. Meanwhile, Maruti has also opened the pre-bookings of the car at a price of Rs. 11,000. Demo cars are expected to reach showrooms by January 24, 2018.

The new Swift comes in 6 petrol and 6 diesel variants. Auto Gear Shift (AGS) is offered on V and Z trims of both petrol and diesel versions. Colour options include - Lucent Orange, Midnight Blue, Fire Red, Arctic White, Silky Silver and Magma Grey.

The new Swift is based on the fifth-generation HEARTECT platform. Compared to the previous model, the overall length has reduced by 10 mm to 3,840 mm. At 1,735 mm, overall width has gone up by 40 mm while the wheelbase has increased by 20 mm to 2,450 mm. Further, headroom has increased by around 24 mm, while luggage space has gone up by 58 litres (28% more than the 2nd-gen Swift).

The third generation Swift gets a hexagonal front grille flanked by vertically sweeping headlamps. The redesigned front bumper houses circular fog lamps. In side profile, the new Swift looks similar to the outgoing model with its floating roof design and blacked-out A, B and C-pillars. Projector lights with auto headlamp function and integrated LED DRLs as well as dual-tone alloy wheels are available on the Z+ trims. Single-tone alloys are offered on the Z variant. 

Inside, the dashboard features a centre console that's oriented towards the driver. It houses a 7.0-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink and has features like voice recognition, Bluetooth and navigation. The new model comes with a three-spoke, flat-bottom, multi-functional steering wheel and twin-pod instrument cluster. The Z and Z+ trims get automatic climate control as well.

The upcoming Swift gets BS-VI compliant engines. It is available with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, K12 petrol engine as well as a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder DDiS 190 diesel engine. Both petrol and diesel versions are offered with the option of a 5-speed manual or AGS automated manual transmission.

Safety features like ABS with EBD, seat belt with pretensioners and load limiters, ISOFIX and dual airbags are standard on the new Swift.
