Thailand: New Fortuner launched

The next generation Toyota Fortuner has been launched in Thailand, priced between 11.99 lakh - 15.99 lakh baht (Rs. 22.26 lakh - 29.68 lakh).

It will be available with a choice of 3 engine options - 2.4 litre and a 2.8 litre diesel engine; and a 2.7 litre petrol engine. In India though, we are likely to get the diesel units only. The 2.4L produces 148 BHP and 400 Nm of torque while the 2.8L produces 175 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. Both these engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic. The base 2.4L also gets a 6-speed manual transmission and only the 2.8L gets the 4-wheel drive system.

Some of the exterior features include a new chrome grill, projector LED headlamps, 18" alloy wheels, revised bumpers, bonnet, side profile as well as rear profile (including new tail lamps). It even gets an electrically operable tail gate. This new generation still doesn't get disc brakes at the rear though.

There's a choice of interior colour option too. The 2.8L 4WD gets Chamois Cream upholstery while the other variants get Brown interior upholstery. Some of the key features include a smart key, start/stop button, climate control, electrically adjustable driver's seat, leather and synthetic leather upholstery, a DVD touch screen with Bluetooth, voice recognition and navigation.

Safety features include ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Trailer Sway Control, Hill-start and Down Hill Assist, and 7 airbags (including a driver knee airbag).

A choice of seven colours are available for the exteriors - Attitude Black Mica, Dark Grey Mica, Nebula Blue, Phantom Brown, Silver, Super White and White Pearl. This SUV is likely to make its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.
