Test driving the Citroen Basalt: Good first car for bachelors

The missing features are evident, but except for the ventilated seats, all other needs of mine were catered to.

Test drove the Basalt today. Here are my impressions.

  • Looks really good tbh, especially in red color.
  • I drove the manual Turbo. Progress is brisk and enjoyable.
  • The music system sounds great for a 6 speaker unit with very clear mids and punchy bass. The SA said that the speakers are made by Focal. I would take that with a pinch of salt but very good performance indeed.
  • Cabin is very spacious and the AC is a chiller.
  • The highlight for me is the suspension! It's super compliant with very minimal body roll. NVH levels are great as well.
  • The missing features are definitely evident, but I must say that except for ventilated seats, all other needs of mine were catered to.
  • There were some nasty panel gaps near the gear lever which the SA said is specific to the test car.

Overall for a first-time bachelor buyer like me, I guess the car is a pretty good choice.

Also, spotted the new C3 with all-black interiors at the showroom which featured all the new goodies from the Basalt for about 2L less.
