Telangana: Vehicle RCs and licenses soon on a mobile app

Motorists in the state of Telangana will soon be able to carry their driving licences and vehicle registration certificates on an RTO-approved mobile phone app. This app can serve as documentary evidence when a traffic cop pulls one over.

The mobile phone application can be downloaded free of charge and the users have to go through a one-time registration procedure by furnishing their mobile numbers or Aadhar numbers. Users can store multiple vehicle registration certificates and e-licences on this app. If another person is using the vehicle, the owner can share his / her e-RC with that person.

Eventually, this app will also include permits, pollution certificates and other documents. The app will be unveiled towards the end of this month.

This initiative is likely to benefit 60 lakh driving license holders and 80 lakh vehicle owners in the state.
