Tata's plans for the LCV segment

Tata Motors has been facing the heat in the commercial segment from competitors like Eicher Motors, Ashok Leyland and Mahindra. Even Maruti, India's largest passenger car maker, is planning to enter the commercial vehicle segment with its upcoming LCV (codename: Y9T). Tata has now revealed its plans to re-capture its market share in the LCV segment.

Tata is planning to introduce an all new pick up truck in the 1.5 - 2 tonne range. The Ace (mini truck) and Super Ace will undergo a mid-life refresh too. A new generation of its pick up truck - Xenon will also be launched. The next generation Xenon will be based on an all new platform.

According to ET Auto, its market share declined by more than 20% in the last few years. The company aims to take charge of its declining market share with the introduction of a range of new and refreshed products in the LCV segment.
