Tata Zica official images released; interiors spied

Tata Motors has released official images of the upcoming Zica hatchback.

With the Zica, Tata Motors has stepped away from its ageing "Indica" design. The car has a smiling honeycomb mesh grille with a Tata logo in the middle, and sweptback headlamps that do not resemble those on other Tata cars. A chrome "humanity line" underlines the grille and runs into the headlamps. The bumper has a wide, black air dam and round fog lamps with chrome-lined enclosures.

The sides of the car have prominent character lines running across them. The B-Pillar is blackened, the door handles are body-coloured, and the car is seen riding on alloy wheels. The ORVMs have integrated turn-indicators.

At the rear, the Zica gets a tailgate with multiple creases and new wraparound tail lamps. The bumper houses the number plate in a large blackened area.

Additionally, automotive website Autos Arena, has managed to procure some spy images of the interiors of the Zica. The images show that the car gets a dual tone (black and white) interior with piano black, silver and chrome inserts at various places. The multifunction steering wheel and 2-DIN infotainment system appear to be borrowed from some recent Tata cars. The design of the dashboard is also different from what we have seen on other Tata cars.

The Zica is equipped with features such as air-conditioning, power windows and electrically operated ORVMs.

Tata will reveal the Zica to the media this week. The launch of the car is expected to happen in January 2016.
