Tata Motors has announced the launch of the Tiago EV – the brand’s most affordable electric car. It is available in four variants – XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech LUX with prices starting at Rs. 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tiago EV uses Tata’s Ziptron high-voltage architecture featuring a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. Tata claims the car can reach 0-60 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
The Tiago EV comes with two battery options - a 19.2 kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of 250 km and a 24 kWh battery offering 315 km (MIDC) on a single charge. Lower variants come with a 3.3 kW AC charger, while a 7.2 kW AC charger is available on the top-spec XZ+ Tech LUX trim.
The Tiago EV is also compatible with fast charging. The battery can be charged from 10-80% in 57 minutes using a DC fast charger.Â
On the outside, the Tiago EV looks similar to the ICE version, except for a few details. It gets a blanked-out grille with the ‘EV’ badge and blue trim along the lower edge. The car comes equipped with automatic projector headlamps, fog lamps and dual-tone alloy wheels.
The Tiago EV comes with ZConnect as standard. It includes features such as remote AC on/off, Geo-fencing, Smartwatch connectivity, real-time charge status and a dynamic charger locator, among others. The car also gets features like automatic climate control, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking camera and multi-mode regen.
Bookings for the Tiago EV will open on October 10, and deliveries will commence in January 2023.
