Tata Motors has been testing the Safari Storme facelift for a long time now. The vehicle has been spotted on its test runs on several occasions. Motoring website Motorbeam has managed to obtain a product guide of the SUV. The document gives us an idea of what to expect.
As we have seen before, the Storme facelift gets a new Land-Rover inspred honeycomb upper and lower grilles and a reworked bumper. The interiors of the SUV are java black with silver accents. The Storme uses the same three-spoke multifunction steering wheel as the Zest and Bolt. The centre console is revised and houses a new Harman-developed integrated audio system with Bluetooth, Aux and USB connectivity. Below the infotainment system is a 12V power socket and the rotary switch to operate the four-wheel drive system. Other features include a flip key and electrically folding ORVMs. The Storme does not come with a clock.
According to the product guide, the Storme will be powered by a 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine, capable of producing 148 bhp @ 4000 rpm (a gain of 10 bhp) and 320 Nm of torque @ 1700-2700 rpm. The vehicle continues to use a 5-speed manual transmission, but comes with a new 230 mm diameter, self-adjusting, clutch. Tata Motors has also increased the size of the Storme's fuel tank from 55 litres to 63 litres.
Details on the launch date of the Safari Storme facelift are awaited.
