Skoda's new SUV test mule spied

Skoda had confirmed a new large SUV from their stable will be ready by the end of 2016. This is the first time that a test mule of this new SUV has been captured on camera. It is known as the 'A-Plus SUV' internally, and it will be a Santa Fe rival globally.

What appears to be a long wheel base version of the Yeti, is actually the new MQB chassis being tested. Based on the largest version of VAG's MQB platform, this SUV is a derivative of VW's CrossBlue SUV. It will be available in front as well as all-wheel drive options. The SUV is likely to inherit Volkswagen Touareg's off-road capabilities too.

The engine options will be borrowed from the 2015 Superb. Also, no engine greater than a 2.0 liter unit will be available on this SUV as it is likely to be positioned below the Superb.

This SUV will be offered in 5 and 7 seating configurations.

A new crossover is also expected from Skoda by 2017, which will be positioned below the Yeti.
