Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo re-launched at Rs. 11.16 lakh

Skoda has re-launched the Rapid Monte Carlo in India. It is available in four variants with prices starting at Rs. 11,15,599 (ex-showroom).

The Rapid Monte Carlo was launched back in August 2017 and was later renamed as Edition X due to a trademark dispute. The new model is offered only in a single shade of red and comes with a gloss black front grille flanked by projector headlights that have integrated LED DRLs. The car has gloss black ORVM housings, window trim and blacked-out B-pillars with Monte Carlo badges. The roof gets a black wrap and there is a black tail gate spoiler and a black diffuser at the rear. The car rides on 16-inch Clubber dual-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, the car comes with a 3-spoke flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel and gear knob wrapped in black leather with red stitching, steel pedals and scuff plates with Monte Carlo inscription. The seats come with black leatherette upholstery with grey stripes and red highlights. The Monte Carlo comes with piano black centre console that houses a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It has MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. Other features include dual rear AC vents, rain sensing wipers, cruise control and rear view camera among others. 

The Rapid Monte Carlo is available with a choice of petrol or diesel engines. The 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 103 BHP @ 5,200-5,250 rpm and 153 Nm of torque @ 3,750-3,800 rpm. It comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit puts out 109 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1,500-2,500 rpm. The diesel engine is available with a 5-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission.

The Rapid Monte Carlo comes with safety features like ABS and dual airbags as standard. The DSG variant gets Electronic Stability Control (ESC), while both Petrol AT and Diesel AT variants get Hill Hold Control.
