Skoda Kushaq enters production in India

The name Kushaq is derived from the Sanskrit word 'Kushak' which means a king or an emperor.

Skoda has announced the start of production of the Kushaq in India with the first car rolling off the assembly line in Pune. The crossover will be launched in July 2021.

The name Kushaq is derived from the Sanskrit word 'Kushak' which means a king or an emperor.

The Kushaq is the first model developed under the India 2.0 Project. It is based on the MQB A0-IN platform that is shared with its sister car, the Volkswagen Taigun.

The crossover has a front fascia that's typical of Skoda cars with a chrome grille flanked by slim headlamps. A set of fog lamps is positioned just below the main headlamp clusters. At the rear, the crossover features L-shaped tail lamps. It has chunky bumpers with integrated skid plates, flared wheel arches, roof rails and a roof spoiler.

On the inside, the car will come equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Lower variants are expected to get a smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Kushaq will be offered with two engine options - These include a 113 BHP, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic and a 148 BHP, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor mated to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
