Skoda India to announce 2013 Octavia pricing on October 3rd

The Octavia nameplate will make a comeback into India on October 3rd, after more than two years of the badge's discontinuation from the Indian car market. The car though has been in India all along, selling under the Laura badge. The third generation Skoda Octavia was unveiled in India a month ago, with the price announcement withheld for the official launch. Team-BHP reader Kumar Gaurav has unearthed a section of the Skoda website that reveals everything about the 2013 Octavia.

The 2013 Octavia gets three engines: two turbo petrol units and one turbo diesel unit. The turbo petrol engines are the 1.4 liter TSI (138 Bhp-250 Nm) and the 1.8 liter TSI (177.5 Bhp-250 Nm) motors while the diesel motor is the latest iteration of the 2 liter TDI (141 Bhp-320 Nm) mill. The 1.4 liter TSI motor gets a 6 speed manual gearbox while the 1.8 liter TSI motor makes do with a 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox. The 2 liter TDI engine gets 6 speed manual and DSG dual clutch automatic gearboxes. The car will be sold in Active, Ambition and Elegance trims.

Notably, only the 1.8 liter TSI petrol engined Octavia gets independent suspension at the rear. Other engine variants of the car will get a torsion beam set up at the rear. As first drives have indicated, the Octavia 1.8 TSI, with its independent rear suspension, feels the most sure footed among the various variants of this car. Dimensions-wise, the new Octavia is much larger than the outgoing model and comes with a long list of new features that make it a segment leader in many respects. The car will be assembled at Skoda India's Aurangabad factory through the completely knocked down (CKD) kit route.

In India, the 2013 Octavia will be sold alongside the Laura (2nd generation Octavia), which is expected to move lower down the price spectrum. Here's a round up of the notable features on the 2013 Octavia,
