Second gen BMW X6 launched in India at Rs. 1.15 crores

The second generation of its Sports Activity Coupe (as BMW calls it), the BMW X6 xDrive40d has been launched in India, priced at Rs. 1.15 crores. This car will be available in the M Sport trim variant only. It is brought to India in India via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route which attracts the highest level of taxes.

Changes to the exteriors are subtle. It includes new headlamps, kidney grill, bumpers, fog lamps, alloy wheels, side air dam, tail lamps and rear buper with a diffuser. There are a total of 5 body colours available - Alpine White, Carbon Black, Flamenco Red, Mineral White and Metallic Alpine White.

Interiors of the X6 are available with a variety of trim and upholstery options to choose from. Features such as cruise control, launch control, adaptive LED headlights & LED fog lamps, a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system, iDrive Touch, sunroof etc, are standard on the X6.

In 2012, when it received a facelift, it was available with a petrol and a diesel engine. This time around, BMW has launched the X6 with only a TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder diesel engine which produces 308 BHP and a max torque of 600 Nm between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and has paddle shifters too. The company claims that this car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 240 km/h. This car still manages an ARAI fuel economy figure of 15.87 kmpl.

It is equipped with xDrive - BMW's all-wheel drive technology. It also features an adaptive air-suspension package with dynamic damper control

Safety kit includes six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (including Dynamic Traction Control), Cornering Brake Control and Hill Descent Control among others.
