SCOOP! Updated 2013 Tata Nano coming

Fellow car website - ‘Indian Cars Bikes’ - has posted the first pictures of Tata’s 2013 Nano face-lift. The pictures show what can at best be described as a ‘Nip & Tuck’ job. The front & rear bumpers receive changes, while a chrome strip has been added on the rear boot lid for that premium feel.

The interiors have received more attention with a redesigned dashboard, now featuring a glove box and integrated music system. The new dashboard certainly seems more substantial and nicer looking. BHPian Arjab shares insider information on what we can expect from the updated Nano:

1) Roof mounted antenna (front).
2) Front bonnet chrome lip.
3) Rear Tailgate chrome lip.
4) Skirting below rear bumper.
5) Additional ventilation on the rear bumper.
6) The lower part of the front bumper will have a grille (behind it) to prevent stones and the like from hitting the A/C condenser.
7) Two gloveboxes (one on either side).
8) Dash-integrated front speakers.
9) Integrated stereo system.
10) Rear parcel shelf with provision for speakers.
11) Covered "C" pillars on the inside. No more bare metal.
12) Vanity mirror on the LHS sunvisor.
13) Redesigned console with a bigger storage area (in front of the gear lever).
14) Underseat storage trays a la Vista (still being debated apparently).
15) Bigger, more powerful horn.
16) Hazard light switch moves to the center console (above a/c vents).
17) Remote central locking.
18) New colours.

Sales of Tata’s Nano have slumped from 5,491 units in September 2012 to just 1,505 units as of last month. Yesterday, Tata cut the prices of its entire passenger car range, but the Nano was left untouched.
