Rumour: UM Lohia Two Wheelers JV stops operations

According to a media report, UM Lohia Two Wheelers has stopped its operations in India following a dispute.

UM Lohia Two Wheelers is a joint venture between US-based UM Motorcycles and Lohia Auto. Reports suggest that neither party is taking any effort to revive the brand. Production at its Kashipur plant has also been stopped and employees have reportedly been laid off.

According to Ayush Lohia, CEO, Lohia Auto, UM Motorcycles is facing financial difficulties and is unable to lend its support to the joint venture.

UM Motorcycles and Lohia Auto formed a joint venture in 2014 and had set up a manufacturing plant in the state of Uttarakhand. The company has been offering its Renegade series of cruiser bikes in India.
