Rumour: Toyota Yaris to get 1.5L BS6 petrol engine

According to a media report, Toyota is likely to introduce a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine in the Yaris. The car could be launched ahead of April 2020 when the BS6 norms will come into effect.

At present, the Yaris is offered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 106 BHP and 140 Nm of torque. This engine is expected to be upgraded to meet the new regulations. The engine could be paired with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT.

In September 2019, Toyota had introduced a dual-tone colour option on the Yaris. The car gets projector headlamps, roof-mounted air vent with ambient light, driver seat height adjust, engine start/stop button, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, rear reading lamp and automatic climate control. It also gets dual front airbags and a driver side knee airbag.
