Rumour: Tata Hexa launch scheduled for October 2016

Tata Motors has reportedly confirmed launch of the Hexa crossover in October this year. This announcement comes months after the automaker showcased a production-ready prototype at the 2016 Auto Expo. But with the Delhi diesel car ban in place, Tata was rumoured to be developing a new engine, smaller than 2.0-litre for the Hexa. This was the primary reason of the launch delay. Since the diesel ban has now been revoked, the Indian manufacturer has probably dropped plans of the new engine, and will launch the Hexa with the 2.2-litre unit.

The Hexa shares its underpinnings with the Tata Aria. Interiors get a dual-tone treatment and features on offer will include a Harman infotainment system that consists of a 5.0-inch touchscreen unit. This system will be coupled to 10-speakers from JBL in the top-end model.

The Hexa will be powered by a 2.2-litre Varicor 400 diesel engine that makes 154 BHP and 400 Nm of peak torque. A 6-Speed manual transmission will come as standard, while a 6-speed Automatic will be available as an option.

Tata is expected to place the Hexa at a price that slightly undercuts its biggest rival, the Toyota Innova Crysta.
