If media reports are to be believed, Skoda India is planning to launch a special edition of the Rapid mid-size sedan in the coming months.
The Rapid Monte Carlo edition gets few changes to the exterior along with some interior tweaks. The model will be available in a shade of red with contrasting black details. Black exterior highlights include the grille, mirror housings, boot spoiler and blacked-out 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior gets a flat-bottom steering wheel, aluminium scuff plates and pedals, faux-carbon fiber trim on the dashboard, mobile holder, special floor mats and black upholstery with contrast red stitching.
Under the hood, the Rapid Monte Carlo is based on the India-spec Rapid and is expected to retain the current set of engines - a 4-cylinder, 1.5-litre diesel, making 110 BHP and 250 Nm as well as a 4-cylinder, 1.6-litre petrol producing 103 BHP and 153 Nm. Both engines are available with the option of a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The petrol variant gets the 6-speed automatic whereas the diesel comes with a 7-speed DSG.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is expected to be priced Rs. 30,000 above the current top-end variant.
