According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki could launch the second generation Celerio hatchback (codenamed: YNC) in October this year.
The report also states that the car will be based on the Heartect platform, which also underpins the WagonR. It is expected to be larger in size compared to the outgoing model and could have a longer wheelbase as well.
The new Celerio was caught testing earlier this month and the car does appear to have a larger footprint in the spy images. The test car was also equipped with alloy wheels that appeared to be larger in size and looked similar to the 16-inch wheels offered on the Baleno.
The new Celerio will also get a redesigned interior and higher variants will get the SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment head-unit.
The report further goes on to state that Maruti will offer the new Celerio with 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engine options, while transmission options might include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
