Rumour: MG Astor flash sale on October 7, 2021

The Astor is essentially a petrol version of the ZS EV. It will be positioned below the Hector in MG's line-up.

MG is gearing up to launch the Astor in the Indian market. While we still don't have the official launch date, it is said that MG is likely to open bookings for the first 3,000 units on October 7, 2021. It will be a "flash sale" and the booking amount will have to be paid online. These cars will be delivered by December 2021.

The Astor is slightly smaller than the Hector and will be positioned below it in MG's line-up. It is essentially a petrol version of the ZS EV and features a similar exterior design.

On the inside, the Astor gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an AI-based personal assistant. The SUV gets a panoramic sunroof, heated ORVMs, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. It also comes equipped with Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The new MG Astor is offered with two petrol engine options, including a 1.5-litre unit that puts out 108 BHP and 144 Nm and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 138 BHP and 220 Nm. The former comes with either a manual transmission or an 8-step CVT. The 1.3-litre unit gets a 6-speed automatic transmission.
