Rumour: Maruti Suzuki Ignis India launch delayed

Recent reports are suggesting that Maruti Suzuki has delayed launch of their new Ignis hatchback by around three to six months. This decision has reportedly been taken to clear around 1 lakh backlog bookings of the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza, before bringing in a new product. As a result, the Ignis, which was scheduled to be launched during this year's festive season, will now be introduced in 2017.

Sources closer to the developments have pointed that for every new product launch, a series of trial production runs have to be made. If trial production of the Ignis is started at the current stage, it would negatively affect the outflow of other cars, including the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza. As a result, the company has postponed the schedule for Ignis, and is now focusing on reducing the waiting period of in-demand models.

Consequently, the production of the Ignis which was scheduled for the last week of September has been shifted to the last week of November.
