Rumour: Maruti Ciaz to get 1.5L petrol & diesel engines

According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the new Ciaz in August 2018. The bookings for the new model are expected to commence in July 2018.

Under the bonnet, the Ciaz will reportedly receive new 1.5-litre engines. There have been rumours of a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that will replace the current, Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre unit. Now, a recent media report suggests that the 1.4-litre petrol engine will also be replaced with a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder unit. While the detailed specifications have not been revealed, the larger capacity engines are expected to produce more power than the outgoing engines.

Camouflaged test mules of the Ciaz facelift have been spotted in the recent past. The spy images indicate that the upcoming Ciaz could receive minor cosmetic updates.

The new Ciaz will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and the upcoming Toyota Yaris.
