Rumour: Long-range Tata Nexon EV launch in April 2022

The Nexon EV will compete with the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV.

According to a media report, Tata Motors is likely to launch the long-range version of the Nexon EV in April this year.

The Nexon EV is expected to get a 40 kWh battery pack that could offer more than 400 km of range. That's at least 88 km more compared to the 30.2 kWh battery available in the Nexon EV right now.

To charge the larger battery pack, Tata might offer a more powerful 6.6 kW AC charger with the car. Currently, the Nexon EV comes with a 3.3 kW AC charger which takes about 10 hours to fully charge the battery.

Besides this, Tata is also likely to make other changes to the Nexon EV. One of the biggest upgrades would be the introduction of disc brakes on all four corners. The car could also get new modes for regenerative braking and ESP.

The long-range version of the Nexon EV will most likely be sold alongside the existing car and will be positioned at the top of Tata's EV portfolio.
