Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is still evaluating the vehicle's feasibility given the cost constraints and is likely to be made only if the company's sales numbers are substantial. Additionally, a lot has to be finalized including the engine. That said, media reports suggest, Jeep could offer a downsized version of the 1.6-litre unit from Fiat's 'Family B' engine range. Apart from India, the new SUV could be sold in markets such as Russia and Brazil.

FCA's survival in India will depend upon the success of products like the Compass and the upcoming Renegade. There are indications that the Compass could be launched as early as next month. The company plans to launch five SUVs in India by 2020.
