Rumour: Isuzu MU-X to launch in India on May 11, 2017

Isuzu will reportedly be launching the MU-X in India on May 11, 2017. The company is yet to reveal an official date for the said SUV's launch.

The MU-X is expected to be the replacement of the Isuzu MU-7. It is built on the same platform that underpins the Chevrolet Trailblazer and also shares various design cues with the Chevy SUV, especially the side profile and the dashboard layout. Major design elements of the MU-X include projector headlamps and LED DRLs, a muscular front bumper and a thick, double-slat chrome grille. Isuzu is expected to locally assemble the MU-X at its production facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

Media reports suggest that the India-spec MU-X will initially be available with 4x4 MT and AT powertrain setups, while 4x2 variants are expected to be introduced later. Powering the MU-X will be a 3.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine, though the India-bound model's power and torque output figures aren't known yet.

Being a 7-seater, full size SUV, the Isuzu MU-X will be competing against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
