Rumour: Hyundai to unveil next-gen Santro on October 9, 2018

According to a media report, Hyundai will reveal the next-gen Santro (Codenamed: AH2) to the media on October 9, 2019. The official public unveiling is expected to take place in the last week of the same month.

Earlier this month, Hyundai released a design sketch of the new small car. Spy images have indicated that the car will have a tall boy design, much like the old Santro. It is likely to feature a large cascade grille at the front with sweptback headlamps on either side and dual-tone bumpers.

Hyundai has also launched a contest where customers can suggest a name for the car. Reports suggest that 30% of the respondents want the car to be named "Santro". The name of the car could be announced on October 4, 2018.

The new small car is expected to replace the Eon. It is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine paired with a manual or automated manual transmission (AMT).
