Rumour: Honda to launch next-gen Amaze in 2018

According to media reports, Honda is developing the next-generation Amaze compact sedan in Japan. The car is likely to be launched in India in 2018.

The new Amaze is expected to feature changes to its interior and exterior as compared to the current model. The car is also likely to be equipped with more safety features, which will help it to comply with the safety norms that are expected to be implemented in the coming years.

The production of the new Amaze will commence in June 2018. The car will be manufactured at Honda's Greater Noida and Tapukara plants. The company has estimated an annual production of 1,05,000 units.

Honda has sold 1,96,032 units of the Amaze since its launch in April 2013. It was the first Honda car to feature a diesel engine in the Indian market. Of the total number of cars sold, around 54% are powered by a diesel engine.

The Amaze competes with other sub 4-metre sedans such as the Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Tata Zest.
