Rumour: Ford to launch Mustang in India on January 28

In July 2015, a Ford Mustang was spotted at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) leading to speculation that its launch was nearing. Now, according to media reports, Ford is likely to launch the car in India on January 28, 2016.

While previous avatars of the Mustang have been available in left-hand drive only, the sixth generation car is available in right-hand drive as well. This makes it suitable for sale in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and India.

In India, the Mustang is likely to be available with a 5.0-litre, V8 petrol engine, that puts out 429 BHP and 542 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Some of the features that are expected to be available on the Mustang are 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic HID headlamps and fog lamps, LED tail lamps and a rear spoiler.

Coming to the interiors, the Mustang is expected to be equipped with dual-zone climate control, a 4-gauge instrument cluster with chrome accents, a multi-function steering wheel, paddle shifters, Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system and ambient lighting among other features.

The Mustang will be brought to India via the CBU route.
