According to a media report, Ford is evaluating a new MPV for India. The vehicle could be based on the Mahindra Marazzo.
The report states that Ford's version of the Marazzo is expected to get a different exterior. It is expected to get a new dashboard and Ford's Sync infotainment system. The report claims that the MPV could be offered in 7 or 8-seat configurations.
While, the new MPV will share its underpinnings with the Marazzo, it is likely that Ford might tune the suspension differently. However, it could get the same 1.5-litre diesel engine as the Marazzo. A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit is said to be under development as well. The MPV could get manual and automated manual transmission (AMT) options.
Earlier this year, Ford and Mahindra had announced a joint venture to collaborate on new models and EVs. The Marazzo-based Ford MPV is believed to be part of this.
