Rumour: Arvind Saxena headed to General Motors India

Arvind Saxena is rumoured to be taking charge of General Motors India Pvt. Ltd. in the near future. Saxena will leave his current position of Managing Director at Volkswagen Passenger Cars India to replace Lowell Paddock, who is rumoured to be headed for GM Singapore, which is going to be the company's headquarters for international operations.

Arvind Saxena has more than 30 years of experience in the Indian automobile industry. He has previously worked at Escorts Ltd. Motorcycle and scooter division, Bajaj Auto Ltd., Fiat India Automobiles Ltd., Maruti Udyog Ltd. and Hyundai Motor India Ltd. He joined Volkswagen in 2012.

Meanwhile, it is being said that Lowell Paddock's transfer has come in the wake of the Tavera recall fiasco. 1.14 lakh Chevrolet Tavera MUVs, manufactured between 2005 and 2013, were recalled in July 2013 for failing to meet pollution norms. Many top executives of the company were fired for the "corporate fraud".

Paddock assumed the role of President and Managing Director of General Motors India on January 1, 2012, replacing the late Karl Slym, who moved to GM China and later to Tata Motors.
