Rumour: 2020 Mahindra Thar bookings open; launch in August

We had earlier reported that the next-generation Thar would be launched once the lockdown ends. Mahindra dealers are now accepting bookings for the SUV, which is expected to be launched in August 2020.

The new Thar is said to be larger than the outgoing car. It is expected to get updated styling and a new interior with modern features. The vehicle has circular headlamps and grille with vertical slats and could get a redesigned dashboard with circular air-conditioner vents and a centre fascia that houses a touchscreen infotainment system.

The SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine producing 187 BHP and 380 Nm and a 138 BHP 2.2-litre diesel engine. Transmission options might include an automatic and a 6-speed manual.
