Rumour: 2016 Hyundai Elantra Specifications leaked

Specifications of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra have reportedly leaked on the Internet, a week before its official launch scheduled on August 23, 2016. The upcoming car is the sixth-generation model of the Elantra, and has already been spotted multiple times during its test runs on Indian roads.

According to the leaked specs, powering the new Hyundai Elantra will be two engine options. The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder Dual VTVT petrol engine will produce 150 BHP and 190 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. Meanwhile, the diesel duties will be handled by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, CRDi diesel that churns out 126 BHP and 265 Nm of torque @ 1,900-2,700 rpm. Both these engines will be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. In terms of fuel economy, the petrol Elantra (MT) will reportedly get an economy figure of 14.6 kmpl, while the manual diesel Elantra will boast of an economy of 22.4 kmpl. The Elantra will get two driving modes: Eco and Sport, to adjust car's characteristics to the user requirements.

The new, sixth-gen Elantra will have a ground clearance of 170 mm, and a turning radius of 5.3-metres. The fuel tank of the new model will now have a capacity of 50-litres. Boot space has gone down in comparison to the current model, as it now measures 458 litres.

Hyundai will offer the new-gen Elantra 2016 in five variants: S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT. These variants will be the same for petrol and diesel engine options. Colour shades on offer with the new Elantra include Blue, Red, Black, Silver and White. Hyundai India will also offer a 3 year/unlimited kilometer warranty as standard with the 2016 Elantra sedan.
