Rolls Royce Dawn launched in India at Rs. 6.25 crore

Rolls Royce has launched its luxury convertible, the RR Dawn in India, at prices starting from Rs. 6.25 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The Rolls Royce Dawn is a two-door four-seater convertible, which is based on the company's Wraith coupe. But the automaker claims that 80% of the components and features of the Dawn are completely new. The Dawn made its global debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.Based on the Wraith, the Dawn shares nearly identical dimensions, and is thus 5285 mm in length, 1947 mm in width, 1502 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 3112 mm long.

The RR Dawn is propelled by a 6.6-litre V12 engine, which is similar to the one offered under the hood of the Rolls Royce Wraith. This power mill generates 564 BHP and a peak torque of 780 Nm. All this power is transmitted to the wheels through an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The company claims that this powertrain is able to accelerate the Dawn from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 250 kmph.

The RR Dawn's soft-top roof can be operated in just 22 seconds, provided that the car is moving at speeds less than 50 kmph. Despite having a fabric soft-top roof, Rolls Royce claims that with the roof mounted, the Dawn will be as silent on the inside as the Wraith coupe. The British luxury car maker also claims that the Rolls Royce Dawn will be the quietest convertible on sale across the globe.
