Renault to launch Kwid on Sept 24, 2015

The Renault Kwid has garnered quite a lot of interest since its reveal in May 2015. Renault is betting big on this car's SUV-like design, overall dimensions and its aggressive (expected) pricing.

A recent report by Autocar suggests that the Kwid is scheduled to launch on September 24, 2015. Bookings of the Kwid had officially begun on September 14, 2015. It seems like Renault isn't wasting any more time to introduce this car to the market and take Maruti's Alto 800 and Hyundai's Eon head-on.

The Kwid is the largest car among its competitors measuring 3,679 mm x 1,579 mm x 1,478 mm (L x B x H respectively). It has a wheelbase of 2,422 mm and boasts of a 300 litre boot space and 180 mm of ground clearance too.

This car will be powered by a 0.8 litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces 53 BHP / 72 Nm. What's surprising is the car's power-to-weight ratio of 85 BHP / ton due to its 660 kg kerb weight. This motor promises to deliver 25.17 kmpl.

The Kwid will be available in 4 variants - STD, RXE, RXL and RXT. The top variant gets features such as a 7" touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation, Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in. It will also feature an optional driver airbag on the top RXT variant. The car will be available in 5 colours - Fiery Red, Ice Cool White, Moonlight Silver, Outback Bronze and Planet Grey.

Deliveries for the Kwid are likely to begin in the festive season. The car comes with a 2 year / 40,000 km standard warranty, extendable upto 4 years / 80,000 km.
